The effects of our decisions and the dichotomy
Between feeling emotions our society's pegged as "wrong"
And being told by the outcasts that we can't play along
And told by our esteemed social scientists
That we're neurotic, immature, or that we don't exist

With everyone demanding that you take a side
"Hey, make up your mind!"

Don't box me in with your narrow definitions

Queer enough to get you beat up out on the street
But not enough to be accepted in the gay community
Mistrusted and vilified, misunderstood and scorned
For our refusal to be penned in to either side of the norm
Well, neither "side" feels totally right to me
Sexuality can't be turned on and off so easily
Well, I refuse to be shoved aside
And nobody's telling me to take a side
